A First Birthday Fiesta

Lily Bean turned one recently and her parents thought that a South American theme would be the most apt theme because that’s where Lily Bean was……..*cough* conceived *cough**blush*.  I was so excited to be a part of the planning process, not only because it was a fun & unusual theme for a first birthday party, but also because Mark, Mel & Lily Bean are good friends of mine.  As with all planning, it started with an inspiration board…

The garden was decorated with papel picados and tissue paper flowers, which were a cost-effective, yet authentic way to decorate.  No South American Fiesta would be complete without a pinata, which we had made.  Grownup guests were served tortillas with all the trimmings, sangria and margarita cupcakes – made with tequila.  Melissa didn’t want the kids snacks to be packed full of sugar so we served fruit drizzled with chocolate, popcorn and alcohol free sangria and cupcakes.
